Birkbeck – Ranked 1st in UK for Teaching Quality
The world-famous University of London is a federal University and is one of the oldest, largest and most diverse universities in the UK. The teaching is carried by the 18 Colleges and Institutes that comprise the University. Part of University of London, Birkbeck is recognised as being a ‘global elite’ university, ranking 23rd in the UK and among the top 150 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2011. Birkbeck is also among five universities shortlisted for the Times Higher Education University of Year award 2010.
Founded in 1823, Birkbeck is a world-class research and teaching institution and a vibrant centre of academic excellence. Over 90% of Birkbeck academics are research active, and many are renowned experts in their fields.
Students from over 120 countries study with Birkbeck as its teaching quality is consistently ranked number one in the UK National Student Surveys and, as a college of the University of London, Birkbeck awards internationally respected University of London qualifications. It’s unique evening teaching model makes Birkbeck second to none in the UK.
The Unique Evening Study Model – Learn Alongside Working Professionals
- Would you like to have current Bank of England employees as classmates if to study Master in Finance?
- Would you like to have current ManU Football Club employees as classmates if to study Sports Management?
Birkbeck’s Master’s students will generally undertake their lectures and seminars in the early evening. This teaching model is unique among UK universities and allows our international students to study alongside London-based working professionals, some of whom will have professional experience in their subjects, giving many students access to an instant business network. This enriches students’ learning experience, as they are able to hear about real-life experiences and apply this knowledge to their academic studies. (Not sure why this is very important for getting a job after graduation? Call us 67376875 and we will elaborate more.)
As a full time international student, you could explore daytime internship opportunities that may help build your CV and future career. You could also take advantage of part-time work opportunities during the day (up to a maximum of 20 hours a week as permitted by UK Border Agency). As other university students might only be able to work part-time in bars and restaurants in the evening and gain nothing more than financial benefits, you could acquire valuable experience related to your university studies during the day working with real companies and MNC.
