Deakin College – Foundation & Diploma Pathway to Deakin University

Deakin College (formerly MIBT) is an excellent pathway into Year 2 of a Deakin University Bachelor degree. We courses in the areas of commerce, computing, engineering, health sciences, management, media and communication, and science.
You will be studying on the Deakin University campus, but you will be in much smaller classes than you would in your first year in the mainstream university programs.

Deakin College diplomas are offered in association with Deakin University and offer you an alternative entry to university studies. Courses are conducted on three Deakin University campuses in Australia: Melbourne Burwood, Geelong Waterfront and Geelong Waurn Ponds and there is a fourth offshore campus in Jakarta, Indonesia. Over 90% of international students studying at Deakin College successfully complete their studies and go straight into the second year of their Bachelor degree. This is a significantly higher percentage than for international students in Year 1 of a mainstream university program in Australia. We provide a unified educational experience to ensure you start your studies on the right path and successfully reach your goal of graduating with a Deakin University degree.

Deakin University was established in the 1970s as one of the new generation of Australian universities. Deakin College Programs

With Deakin College, you’ll be studying on the Deakin University campus, but you’ll be in much smaller classes than you would in your first year in the mainstream university programs. You’ll get the extra care and support you need to ensure you succeed in you studies in Australia.

Deakin College offers a Certificate IV in University Foundation Studies course in the following streams: Business, Engineering, Health Sciences / Nursing, Information Technology, Mass Communication and Science. The Certificate course is equivalent to upper secondary school (Year 12) and other university foundation programs and is designed to prepare you for further study in the Deakin College Diploma courses as well as providing relevant qualifications for employment purposes.

International students may be eligible to apply for entry into first year of selected Deakin University Bachelor degrees that Deakin College Diploma courses do not articulate into, after successfully completing the Certificate IV in University Foundation Studies and meeting the specified entry requirements.

The Deakin College Diploma is offered in association with Deakin University as an alternative pathway to undergraduate studies. The Diploma consists of Deakin’s first year degree units and moderated by Deakin academic staff thus ensuring the University’s high academic standards are maintained at all times.

  • Diploma of Management
  • Diploma of Media and Communications
  • Diploma of Science

The duration of the Diploma course is three trimesters (12 months). There is an option, however, to fast track the course and complete it in two trimesters (8 months). Eight units must be completed and passed to be awarded the Diploma. On successful completion of a Diploma you are eligible for entry into second year of a relevant Bachelor degree at Deakin University.
