University of Sussex ISC – Foundation Year, Diploma Pathway & Pre-masters Program

The University of Sussex International Foundation Year is a tailor-made three-term course of academic subjects, study skills and English language training that provides an intensive, direct path to degree study. The course prepares you for undergraduate study in a range of subject areas at the University.

You can choose one of seven Foundation routes:

• Business, Management & Economics
• Computing & Mathematics
• Engineering & Physics
• Law, International Relations & Social Studies
• Life Sciences & Psychology
• Media and Communications

All Foundation routes are modular in structure. There are core modules common to each route. These are modules which every student must take as they provide essential preparation for study in a UK university. You will also study route-specific modules, each carefully designed to focus on the academic areas most useful to your planned subject of study.

Your study will consist of 16 hours per week lecture and seminar style classes, and 20 hours per week made up of small group seminar work and directed self-study.

The University of Sussex International Foundation Year is validated by the University of Sussex and introduces you to the style of teaching that you will experience when you progress onto your degree. You will be taught in tutorials, seminar style classes and larger group lectures.

Joining the International Foundation Year guarantees that you will receive a conditional offer of a degree place at the University. On successful completion of the International Foundation Year, you can proceed directly to your degree at University of Sussex.

The University of Sussex International Year 1 Diploma is a three-term program which provides direct access to the second year of an undergraduate degree in Business and Management. It is carefully designed to help you develop your academic knowledge and improve your English language skills over the three terms.

Below is the list of degrees you will be able to access on completion of the International Year One Diploma in Business and Management:

• Accounting and Finance (BSc)
• Business and Management Studies (BSc)
• Business with Human Resource Management (BSc)
• International Business (BSc)
• Marketing and Management (BSc)

You will study the following seven modules including Accounting and Finance, Business Law, Introduction to Economics, Principles of Marketing, Organizational Behavior, Study Skills and tools and English language course.

Joining the International Year One Diploma guarantees that you will receive a conditional offer of a degree place at the University. On successful completion of the International Year One Diploma, you can proceed directly to 2nd year of your degree at Sussex.

If you do not meet the direct entry requirements for a Masters degree or you simply want to refresh your knowledge, the University of Sussex Pre-Masters course is for you. The Pre-Masters is a program of academic subjects, study skills and English language training. It is designed specifically for international students and will qualify you to meet the challenges of a taught Masters at the University.

Depending on the degree you intend to study, you can choose between three different routes:

• Computing
• Management and Finance
• Media, Journalism and Film Studies
• International Development and International Relations

Joining the Pre-Masters program guarantees you a conditional offer of a place on a Masters degree at the University. Once you have successfully completed the course, you will proceed directly to your preferred Masters.
