The Massey University Flight Operations Centre houses the latest Diamond Aircraft fleet and flight simulators, flight instruction staff and some academic staff, as well as the school’s maintenance facility. In total, Massey owns two Diamond DA42 twin-engine trainer and twelve single-engine trainers airplanes.

The Bachelor of Aviation programme at Massey is ISO-9001-2008 certified and holds the unique distinction of holding an Equivalence Approval from the New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority.

Massey University’s School of Aviation is an Air New Zealand Preferred Flight Training Organisation. After a rigorous selection process Air New Zealand chose four Preferred FTOs (PFTO) to provide airline-informed ab-initio flight training. Massey University is the only PFTO provider offering an integrated aviation degree.

Massey University is the first tertiary institution outside of Australia to join the Qantas Group Future Pilot Program. Successful Bachelor of Aviation (Air Transport Pilot) students will gain a pathway to fly for Jetstar New Zealand.
