BA (Hons) 3D Animation and Visual Effects at the University of Hertfordshire is built around a production-focused environment where students learn through hands-on project work from day one. Having met many Singapore students on campus and observed their progression, one thing that consistently stands out is how quickly they adapt to the studio culture here—Hertfordshire’s School of Creative Arts operates more like a working animation and VFX studio than a traditional academic department. Students spend long hours in dedicated labs, attend practical workshops, and are mentored by staff who have worked across film, television, streaming and games.
As the programme progresses, students move from foundation-level CG into specialised 3D and VFX pipelines, culminating in a substantial final-year production that serves as their industry calling card. Singapore students typically value the structured approach Hertfordshire takes—starting with conceptual skills and drawing, then expanding into technical workflows and production teamwork. This progression, combined with the university’s strong employment record in the creative industries, makes it a popular choice for those aiming to build a professional portfolio competitive for global studios.
