BSc Maritime Business at the University of Plymouth

The BSc (Hons) Maritime Business at the University of Plymouth is designed for students who want a solid commercial and operational understanding of how the global shipping industry works. On campus, you are studying maritime business in a port city with a long seafaring history, surrounded by academics who specialise in shipping, ports, logistics and maritime law. The course covers the business of shipping, transport and logistics, trade, finance, maritime economics and law, giving you a structured, industry-focused preparation for a wide range of roles in the maritime sector.

For Singapore students, this programme is particularly relevant if you are aiming at careers in shipbroking, chartering, port and terminal operations, marine insurance, claims, or maritime trade management. Many students choose Plymouth because of its long-established reputation in maritime education, its professional accreditations, and the strength of its graduate network, including alumni who are now working in maritime roles in Singapore and other major shipping centres. The option of a placement year and the strong emphasis on real-world case studies help you build both knowledge and experience before returning to Asia’s shipping hubs.
